Maid of the Mist on it's trip to the base of Niagara Falls.

Why are there so many songs about rainbows
and what's on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions,
and rainbows have nothing to hide.
So we've been told and some choose to believe it.
I know they're wrong, wait and see.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

Paul Williams

And I love all the flowers around the Falls.  Of course, we had to visit the botanical gardens.

So I'm sure you seen the flower clock then too. =D   I'll be back "home" there next month for my 35th high school class reunion. My hometown is only 12 miles from the falls. ;)

Youbetcha. :D

I have been to Niagra Falls, but I have not been in that boat. I have explored the entire Golden Horseshoe and surrounding cities - Buffalo, Toronto, etc. That was long ago, about 1981 I think. I was up there making music at the time...

We used to live about 2 hours from Niagara Falls many years ago and used to visit all the time as a day trip.  We never had any money to go on the Maid of the Mist.  After about 30 years, we finally went and it was awesome.

How marvellous to be so close to such an awesome natural wonder and so pleased you got your trip on the "Maid of the Mist" in the end. Our eldest son visited the falls in 2000 when he went to meet relatives of his girl friend, in Toronto. They came back engaged!! I would love to see Nigara Falls but ..... the years pass by and still we have not been.

I know what you mean.  There are so many places I would love to visit but doubt I'll be able to do it.  I did see the Grand Canyon this year and that was another place that took me all these years to finally see.

Absolutely!  I would love to visit the UK but I don't think that one is gonna happen.  My husband and daughter went on a "Polar Swim" where  they jumped into a river on New Year's Day last year.  You registered and paid to participate for the local fire department.  I had no idea that this was something either one of them wanted to do and didn't think they would follow through.  Heaven only knows what they will come up with next.  Harmony Polar Plunge 2013 My Family by GlassHouse-1

Don't give up on UK yet .... you never know!! Though I have to say I have a similar feeling about the US: I don't think it's going to happen.
When you have a wonderful family around you that is worth far more than any amount of travelling and it seems you have just that! :-)

Nice capture. As a child, I remember stopping here once on our trip from Long Island to California, with Mom and Dad, four other siblings, a dog, and two cats in the back of a '68' Ford Esquire station wagon with camper in tow. My dad was a really good driver. I remember that he could carry on a conversation with my mom, yell at me to stop teasing my sister, reach the back of his hand all the way to the rear fold up seats in the back where I was, and whack me a good one, never veering off the road once. Oh...:ohmygod: got a little side-tracked for a moment.:shrug: Anyway we went at night, so all the different colored lights were shining on the falls. It was a sight to behold.

Great memory. My dad wasn't quite as gifted, he had to pull over before he gave my sister a whack. I was always smart enough to stop when he said "no". My husband and I lived in Erie, PA for many years and we would go to Niagara Falls for the day often but we never had extra money to go on the Maid of the Mist. Finally at 64 years old I can cross it off my bucket list. Btw, wasn't five kids enough torture without bringing the dog and cats?? Too funny.

Yea, I look back on it now and it is quite funny. My dad was a funny guy. He had this philosophy of "Do what I say, not as I do." Looking back now, I can laugh. I can remember times being disciplined with his hand while saying, "How many times do I have to tell you!?" [WHACK] "Don't [WHACK] hit [WHACK] your sister!!" [WHACK]:rofl: You know, most of the time, we had it coming. Ooops, there I go again.:shrug: We did loose one of the cats during the trip in the Dakota's. Black Hills, I think it was. These days, my cats are my only companions. To be honest, I prefer their company over people anyway. I don't know what I would do without my kitties. I love:love::iconflyingheartsplz::iconpussycat:my kitty kats.:iconpussycat: [link]

I think all parents have a do what I say not as I do discipline approach. I remember those days of physical discipline not only at home but at school also. My family never went on vacations and I always dreaded going back to school because the teacher would always ask us to write about what we did during the summer. My paper was the same year after year. I love to travel as much as we can now even if it is a couple hours drive. I have two cats and I much prefer their company over most people also. :iconfurrytoewigglesplz:
