Description
Clothes drying on a cold January Day, 15℉. Amish country, New Wilmington, Pennsylvania. Took this pic on Monday, the traditional laundry day. I wondered why Monday became wash day and looked it up. Seems that in the 18th century the biggest meal was served on Sunday and usually involved friends or family. That meant there were leftovers and this meant that there would be less time needed to prepare dinner on Monday. Laundry was the worst household chore and usually took the entire day to do.
